Two objects, two ways of holding. The candle releases the fragrance as the wax heats up: it fills the room quickly and goes away with the flame. The diffuser works cold, by capillary action, and never stops.
Together, they cover both moments: the diffuser in the background, all day. The candle when you want the room to change.
Both fragrances come with a certificate of conformity with IFRA standards, issued by the supplier for each use.
The diffuser. Remove the lid, insert the reeds and allow them to soak up the fragrance. Turn them over once a week to refresh the intensity. Keep out of direct sunlight and drafts.
The candle. On the first lighting, let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the glass for two to three hours. Trim the wick to 5 mm before each use. Never burn for more than three hours at a time.

Jasmine makes up the largest part of the fragrance. It is what gives White Tea its clarity.

The diffuser bottle is not refillable. The candle glass, however, can be kept once the wax is finished.
The candle — open flame. Never leave it burning unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets, away from curtains and anything that may catch fire, on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Extinguish when one centimetre of wax remains.
The diffuser — liquid. The fragrance is released without moisture: no droplets will settle on surfaces. The liquid must never be ingested or come into contact with the skin, eyes or mucous membranes. Place the bottle where it cannot be knocked over, and wipe up immediately if it comes into contact with a varnished or plastic surface.

What does our sillage contain?
JASMINE
Heart notes: an airy, luminous jasmine. This is the material that makes up the largest part of the formula.
BERGAMOT
Top notes: the bright citrus that opens the composition
TANGERINE
Top notes: rounder and sweeter than bergamot, it softens it
VIOLET
Heart notes: powdery and subtle, they set the floral notes without weighing them down
WHAT WE CAN PROVE
Each fragrance is accompanied by a certificate of conformity with IFRA standards, issued by the supplier and updated with each amendment.
The certificate sets a usage limit by product category, and it is not the same for a candle and a diffuser. The two items in this set are dosed according to their own limit, not according to an average.
The candle in this set is a blend of 90% soy wax and 2% beeswax. No paraffin, no added coloring.
These are the figures from the product safety data sheet, not an approximate formula. Beeswax is also why our candles are not vegan, and we prefer to be upfront about it.
Most homes sell a candle, or a diffuser. At ESSENCE 1989, every fragrance comes in both, made from the same formula — same ingredients, same proportions.

OPEN, LIGHT, BREATHE
Place the reeds Remove the gold cap, then the inner stopper. Place the reeds in the bottle — all together, or fewer for a more subtle trail.
It’s the motion that releases the intensity. The more you flip it, the stronger the fragrance becomes—and the faster the bottle empties.
the first lighting Let the wax melt to the edges of the glass for two to three hours. That’s the only step that really matters.
A wick that is too long smokes and blackens the glass.
The wax overheats and the fragrance deteriorates. Let it cool before relighting.
When there is one centimeter of wax left at the bottom, the candle has done its job.
